Reporting to the Executive Superintendent, the Health & Safety Coordinator will be responsible for the development, implementation and administration of the Boards Health & Safety programs across all sites. The Health & Safety Coordinator will ensure that the Board complies with all applicable legislation, guidelines and standards regarding Occupational Health and Safety and Workplace Safety & Insurance with the objective of ensuring that all reasonable measures are taken to protect the health and safety of all staff, students and the general public. </p><p><br/><br/></p><p><b><u> RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:</u></b></p><p> ·        Maintain, develop and update Board policies, procedures, programs and best management practices necessary for compliance with the Occupation Health and Safety Act, associated regulations and other legislation applicable to the education sector</p><p> ·        Administer the Boards Health & Safety policies, procedures and programs in co-operation with members of the Boards administration and staff</p><p> ·        Provide timely and accurate information regarding health and safety issues, policies and best practices</p><p> ·        Liaise and act as a resource to Board employees, Principals, Supervisors, and regulatory agencies (e.g. Ministry of Labour, Ministry of Environment, Public Health, Fire and Police Departments), etc.</p><p> ·        Act as technical advisor to the Boards Joint Health & Safety Committee and assist with the co-ordination of meetings, provision of background material, co-ordination of training for committee members and the co-ordination of responses to concerns</p><p> ·        Develop, coordinate and deliver employee training programs as required by legislation, Board policy and training on specialized health and safety and WSIB topics (e.g. asbestos, first aid, CPR, WHMIS, inspections, ergonomics, etc.)</p><p> ·        Develop safe work procedures/practices for specific job functions</p><p> ·        Identify unsafe work conditions, practices and procedures and develop response measures to remediate the issues</p><p> ·        Develop and co-ordinate inspections of all facilities and equipment for compliance with Occupational Health and Safety legislation and guidelines</p><p> ·        Conduct/Coordinate tests and compile safety data on work environment to identify and address potential hazards</p><p> ·        Identify, develop, implement and monitor procedures to ensure emergency plans are in place to manage internal and external emergencies of a localized and/or system-wide nature, including coordinating emergency preparedness training and site/school fire safety plans</p><p> ·        As lead, respond to and provide consultation and support for incidents/accidents, critical injury investigations, work refusals, work stoppages and investigation of unsafe working conditions</p><p> ·        Administer procedures for evaluating and monitoring Workplace Safety & Insurance claims. In addition, the Abilities & Wellness Support Specialist will work closely with the Coordinator to provide support for related wellness program services, policies, key performance indicators, processes, and implementation of best practices for disability claims management for the Board.</p><p><b>RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:</b></p><p>	Responsible for initiating, engaging and maintaining contact with injured/absent employees on a regular basis.</p><p>	Support people leaders and Human Resources staff regarding case management, disability, accommodation and the Attendance Awareness and Support Program.</p><p>	Able to effectively and collaboratively resolve conflict.</p><p>	Make referrals to the appropriate resources, such as EFAP provider, Occupational Health Physician, or Ergonomic Consultant, as required.</p><p>	Effectively manage a fluctuating case load.</p><p>	Collaborate and liaise with other members of the Human Resources team, as well as with employees, people leaders and union representatives to support a wide variety of Healthy Workplace programs and initiatives.</p><p>	Act as a liaison for disability claims to all internal and external partners.</p><p>	Develop, implement, and monitor effective and sustainable return to work plans.</p><p>	In collaboration with all people leaders and human resource partners, regularly monitor and adjust the progress of all return-to-work cases to resolve emerging issues.</p><p>	Build and maintain effective relations to collaborate with the employee, human resources, management, union and relevant health care professionals to implement return to work and /or modified work programs and support a variety of prevention and Healthy Workplace programs and initiatives.</p><p>	Maintain and respect confidential information; objectively and accurately documenting case history, strategy and case management plan.</p><p>	Support regularly gathering, maintaining and reporting statistics regarding sick leave to 3rd parties (e.g. Ministry of Education, SBCI etc.), and be able to proactively identify trends as required.</p><p>	Must be able to travel to other work locations across Guelph and Wellington County, as required.</p><p>	Other related job duties as assigned.</p><p><br/><br/></p><p><b>REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:</b></p><p>	Must have completed a relevant University and/or College program in a related field or discipline such as Human Resources, Occupational Therapy, Disability Management, Rehabilitation, Kinesiology, or a related field of study.</p><p>	A minimum of one (1) to three (3) years of demonstrated experience in claims management, rehabilitative employment, modified return-to-work and accommodations. Working experience in a public sector workplace is preferred.</p><p>	Certified Disability Management Professional (CDMP) designation or be working towards a disability management/human resources related designation is preferred.</p><p>	A valid drivers license and reliable transportation are required.</p><p>	Working knowledge of policies, legislation and principles pertaining to disability management and accommodation, such as the Workplace Safety & Insurance Act, Human Rights Code, Employment Standards Act and other relevant legislation.</p><p>	Possess a high level of computer literacy in using a variety of disability management/HRIS software (i.e. Parklane, SmartFind Express, SDS), as well as demonstrated experience in using Microsoft Office Suites (e.g. Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
